Day12c The Jal Mahal and Leaving Jaipur

Well here is another item on my things to do before you die list ticked off. Ever since watching Octopussy (the James Bond film) I’ve always wanted to see the Jal Palace. I just did not believe that such a thing of beauty could exist. It does, look at it, it is gorgeous. The kings of Jaipur used this palace during the hot summer months because it provided relief against the punishing heat. It really is a sight to behold.

After a stop at a local cloth making factory where we purchased a number of items of clothing, paintings and other hand made articles we left the Pink City and headed off for Delhi. The tour guides help the local artisans by taking tourists to these places to help the local economy. The output of these places is generally to an exceptionally high standard and we were more than happy to purchase these goods and help the local economy. Though, I won’t hide the fact that we haggled fiercely over the prices. (Well if you don’t the sellers get quite upset!)
