We all got ready early in the morning and set off for the wedding house, arriving a little late. The groom waited until we arrived before carrying out the ceremonies required prior to leaving for the wedding venue(s). These ceremonies were all new to me since we don’t do these things in the UK or Canada as far as I am aware.

We arrived at a glorious wedding hall called the Golden Resort. Here the pre-wedding ceremonies took place. I had to do a Melni which helps the two new groups recognise the relationships of individuals within the families (grandfather to grandfather, brother to brother etc). After these ceremonies we went into the hall for breakfast (cha, pani). As we went into the hall, there was a little surprise the girls from the bride’s family had prepared for the groom’s friends; they literally walked straight into it!

The next blog entry relates to the wedding ceremony and party.
