Welcome

Hello

After numerous requests I've set this blog up to keep in touch with and share our experiences of our visit to India. Today is Tuesday 31st and I'm at home preparing to set off for the journey. Our flight is due to take off at 9.30 this evening from Heathrow.

Thinking about the journey to India, I'm going to try and relate the posts to issues of personal identity and reflections. Being a "Second Generation British Asian Sikh" (I may not look it, but I'm a really complex individual you know!) I'll try and share my reflections of how the journey impacts on my sense of identity. If I can't find the energy to do that (because it gets awfully hot in India) I'll just keep a log of events.

Please feel free to comment, any critical feedback about my writing skills I'll assure you I'll steadfastly ignore!

I'll sign off for now and hopefully the next time I write it'll be from the sunny confines of our house in the Punjab. It's a new one that the elders of my family got together and built last year. It's about 100 meters away from our old house that is over 50 years old now. I'll see if I can take some pictures of the old and the new. There is a story to tell about the reasons why my father and his brothers built this new house, but I'll keep that for a later time. For now I'll sign off and catch up with you from the Village Virk, District Jullundar, Punjab, India!
